Moldy white bread    Pickled Peaches

 8 lbs. skinned peaches   2 quarts vinegar  6 sticks cinnamon
   9 cups sugar  1 tablespoon whole cloves

Put cinnamon sticks and cloves in a cheesecloth bag.

Make a syrup of the vinegar and sugar.  Boil for 5 minutes.  Add spick bag.  Add peaches.  Cook until tender.  Remove from heat and let stand overnight.  Pack peaches in jars.  Bring syrup to a boil and boil until thick as honey.  Top jars off with syrup.

1 bushel equals 36 pints
