Telephone:

207-773-0017.  The Exchange has a thoroughly annoying automated phone system with which you can (a) waste your valuable time making an endless series of menu choices, or (b) bypass the whole thing by pressing "0" to get to a human being.  Your call.

Fax: 207-871-8013
Home page: www.portlandfishexchange.com
SSB: 4125.0

VHF:

79

The Exchange is open in one form or another every day of the week, but their hours change on a seasonal basis so it's best to call them or us for specific information.  For more information about the Exchange, head to their home page or my Representation page.

You Are Guilty Until Proven Innocent: Contacting NMFS

Dialing 978-281-9300 will bring you to the entrance of The Maze.  Their on-hold music has recently been upgraded, so waiting while being transferred around to various offices is now actually rather pleasant.  Click here to go to their home page, or write them at:

National Marine Fisheries Service
1 Blackburn Drive
Gloucester, MA 01930

For DAS call-in and call-out numbers, or when you need to call out for your 20 day block, dial 1-800-260-8204.

If you want to fish south of 42°20' and be liberated from the cod trip limit, call 978-281-9278 and request a letter of exemption.

Here in Portland, you can call NMFS Enforcement at 780-3241, or the fisheries statistics office at 780-3322.  Links to other government agencies which are lavishly overfunded with your hard-earned tax dollars can be found at my government/academic links page.
