Northern shrimp vessels are not subject to any limit on the amount of shrimp they can catch, but are subject to limits on landings of bycatch.  Here's what's allowed:
  • As much "longhorn" sculpin as you want.  I know this sounds useless, but look at it this way: Who ever thought slime eels would find a market?  (By the way, I will not represent anything as far down the food chain as slime eels at auction).  You should be aware that there is indeed a "shorthorn" sculpin, as well as a "staghorn," and about 10 other varieties to boot.  I'm guessing NMFS is going to tread lightly on enforcing this one.
  • Whiting, up to an amount equal to the total weight of shrimp landed, with a cap of 3,500 pounds per trip.
  • Lobster, up to 10% of all other species on board, or 200 lobsters, whichever is less.
