Trip limits - Yellowtail |
| Home | Fisheries management | Trip limits | Yellowtail | |
The description below was the old rule. I will get the new one up as soon as I know. They vary depending on area fished and some areas require you to fish in them the entire trip. Know where you plan to fish and the trip limits that apply before you leave the dock.
|
This trip limit only applies if you are fishing in the SNE Regulated Mesh Area |
|
| Maximum per day | 750 pounds, dropping to 250 lb. on March 1 2003. |
| Maximum per trip | 3,000 pounds when fishing any part of a trip in the SNE |
| Landing or possession limit? | Landing. You can have as much as you want while at sea, but upon landing, you have to be at or under 3,000 pounds. |
| What a "day" means | Any part of a DAS day. |
| What to do if you're over the limit | First thing is to avoid this trip limit entirely by calling NMFS and asking for a "Yellowtail Exemption Certificate," which is just like the cod exemption certificate. But, if you have to fish in the SNE: Start discarding. |
