Here are the results of NMFS' biannual trawl surveys.  Highlight the species name in the list above and press "GO" to see a chart of what NMFS' survey caught for that species from 1984 onward.  Some notes:
  • If you made it this far, I am sure you know there are serious problems with at least the 2000, 2001 and 2002 trawl surveys.  I considered not putting the fall survey up, but decided to continue.  If the data is ever corrected, I will post the changes.  So here it is, for what its worth.
  • Some species are only surveyed once per year.  For those that are surveyed twice, I've also listed the data chronologically so you can see the results of both the spring and fall tows as time passes.  You'll note some are definitely more abundant at one time of the year than the other.  Gone are the "combined" charts adding the catch for one year's spring and fall surveys together.  Instead you'll find - again, just for those species surveyed in both the spring and the fall - the average catch for the last 4 surveys.

  • The US & Canadian governments have also put together a "groundfish atlas" summarizing trawl survey data on both sides of the border.
